#Theory and Context

Whilst visting Modern 1 at the national galleries of scotland an exhibition which I found myself emotively and visually drawn to was Anya Gallaccio.Gallaccio is a stand out 1990’s artists who is known for winning ‘Young Brittish Artist’She is also known for changing peoples perception of art.She explores the tension between the natural and un natural,the tamed and the wild,the dirt and the dust.My perception of the piece is that it was either about memories of a loved one deceased or love lost.The bed of roses held a certain poignancy in the stale earthy odour and the vision of the dark red rose heads like that of blood.

The room of lava like sculptures had a very sensory feel about it.The room of obsidian made me consider if this was to fight off negative energies/emotions/feelings?

Other artists work I viewed was;

Rosalind Nashashibi. ‘Part 1 Where there is a joyous mood,there a comrade will appear to share a glass of wine 2018.

Part 2:The moon nearly at full.The team horse goes astray 2019.
